The DSSR is twisted to accommodate this, however, the gear selector nub on the trans is not the center of the rotation.

It's closer to what the BW shifter looks like. It's easier to turn a piece on the lathe and weld it to the rod. It's also easier just to weld the rod directly to the bearing, reduces the piece count and faster to make. One end has 2 bolt slots, the other has one. When looking at Jake's pictures of real DTM cars, that bracket is mounted with the 2 bolt side facing aft.
